National Documentation Centre: Research and Development funding higher than ever
The percentage of the 2015 budget disbursed for Research and Development hit a record high of 0.96 of GDP, a significant rise from previous years, according to the preliminary data of the National Documentation Centre.

The publication of the scales is part of the regular issuance of official statistics on Research, Development and Innovation in Greece, undertaken by the European Central Bank in cooperation with ELSTAT, the Hellenic Statistical Authority.
There has been an upward trend in Research and Development funding in Greece over the last years, reaching 1.64 million euros in 2015, from 1.49 million in 2014, and 1.39 million in 2011.
The gauge “Intensity of Research and Development, which reflects R&D spending as a percentage of GDP, was 0.96% in 2015, 0.84% in 2014, and 0.67% in 2011, approaching 1% for the first time in Greece.
